Rebecca Lynn Cherney-Randazzo was born and raised city famous for its three notorious floods ~ Johnstown, Pennsylvania [60 mi. east of Pittsburgh] ~ where she had a career both as a proofreader, transcriber and legal videographer for a court reporting service as well as in the medical profession serving as an assistant to the director of a cancer treatment center in the radiation oncology division.
In 2000, she moved into the non-profit world where she took a position in Tulsa, OK, as a Development Associate for a national non-profit dedicated to helping children and families affected by HIV/AIDS. She spent her time traveling the country, doing fundraising, and conducting training and AIDS awareness education.
Upon the relocation of that non-profit to the Greater Boston area, Rebecca decided to go back to college to become an accountant. She ultimately received an Associate’s Degree in Accounting; a BS Degree in Business with an Accounting Concentration; and her MBA with an Accounting Concentration (MBAA) from Davenport University in Michigan.
After living in the Baltimore area for seven years, her family relocated to the North Raleigh area in 2014 where she currently lives with her husband, Joe; son, Alexander; mother-in-law, Domenica; a Yorkie/Bichon mix [Sophia Loren] and two twin cats [Sheldon & Leonard].
Rebecca previously served a three-year stint on the Board of Directors for TLC (founded as Tammy Lynn Center), who empowers individuals of all abilities to live their fullest life, serving children, adults, and families through on-site and community-based programs: educational services, respite care, early childhood intervention, autism therapies, community living support, and residential living. She was appointed Development Chair and was awarded the Arthur O. Prosser III Chairman's Outstanding Service Award for dedicated and unselfish service in April of 2019.
Upon completing her three-year board term at TLC, Rebecca decided to create her own non-profit, GR8FUL Workshops, Inc., after she had a transformative experience while on a work-related trip for her employer. In one day she went from the water, to the mountaintop, to the wilderness where she had multiple encounters with God and his redeeming power at every turn. At the end of the trip God revealed to her the GR8FUL principles and put on her heart that she needed to help the next generation of young women through the maze of life by teaching them these principles and to serve as a mentor and guide on their journeys.
She is an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan; and gets home to Pennsylvania to see her large extended family every chance she gets.
